Please tell me to believe and please tell me not to leave my heart in scraps on the side of the road. Cause the rat race don't seem promising, I think i left my promise ring, I lost it now I'm feeling old. So baby why do they say that its better to have tried and failed then to have never to have tried at all? I have tried my whole life just to get myself a slice but the breadcrumbs all have turned to mold. Midlife crisis Oh but the midnight oil burning priceless I just want something to believe in baby something to believe in And although my time has been real kind i got so much on my mind & anxieties a blood pressure disease. Oh some are made of money others made of milk and honey while i'm just trying to pay bills week to week. Oh but don't let me get you down, I'm just trying to find a sound, that can make you feel alright. Its back to simplicity, and back to the table for a twenty-five year success overnight. Midlife crisis Oh but the midnight oil burning priceless I just want something to believe in baby something to believe in

Sitting by the train tracks counting all the sides of the painted cars that pass held down by the shade of several pines that blend together as they hold their poses breaking out the moonshine feels like winter with these colors so clear and alive there's a shimmer to the night and a breeze that makes one think of rain again and theres no control of moments as they go if you just release the need to hold on to something and let the stream take you away and let this dream take you away sitting by the train tracks feels like days but only hours have passed this melting pot of time and places and things and people are ringing in my head

Waiting to get Alex to re-send me his poem. Don't want to print it without correctly using his proper word phrases!

-- I have to have him resend the words, would not want to put them down and have them not be correct.

These crazy days are etched in wine and gold and the truth be told I might not remember much when i grow old these days we look to our friends sometimes to get to the start to the end this family is a never ending weekend and i keep on telling myself to please remember these crazy days I'm trying to carve it in wood just to keep a running record of the things that I should we all stand here by the fire and recite our thoughts these are such wonderful wonderful days! Oh and we all seem to beat the drum like a gang of friends from the great beyond like a parade held just for ourselves. It's a glorious time to be alive today. So when we disappear... just don't forget these days I'll keep these moments safe so they wont ever go away away away!

Say it 01:38
Pardon me for interrupting maybe i was saying things you didn't understand, i was trying to be clear but sometimes my brain doesn't connect to the other half of this and that. I'm High, hello, I'm High. (it's Caleb and Joel's fault) Say it - Sun-nay it, sun-nay at ohhhh Garden house, Strange things out back. I kept telling the neighbors but they kept looking at me like i was on crack, I can't explain the things Ive seen, I can't explain the things i have felt and heard out the back yard, God Damn it - out the back yard! Say it - Sun-nay it, Sun-nay at oohhhh

I'll show you how (Repeat Verses) Breathing is a glorious thing and the earth turns sometimes i feel like an earth worm sometimes i feel the anxiety burn but you seem always there to pick me up when I'm down thank you for that thank you for that thank you for that Everybody's getting turned on by the light of the day yeah!

It was never easy No matter what you say It was never easy It was never easy That was when the whole world stood still for a while There is a perception you can see the light erupt in time

about

This is the short awaited followup release to the first SHELK record, this one is again nearly entirely done by Robb Benson, and is a home spun one man electro-pop lo-fi anthem factory of tunes. Robb gets friends to back him live. yet on tape its all RNB. (Robert Norton Benson Music)

This record is very much a home spun one man job, but the biggest difference from past Robb Benson albums is in the second half of the album where it gets very influenced by Hip Hop beats and digital grooves. Seems to be a slight pattern from the last Shelk record, but there are plenty of old school late 60s psychedelic pop grooves and modern indie rock influences, as well as some R&B and even a bit of 80s electro pop... ending in a bit of folk and even some eastern soundtrack styled stuff.

about

Shelk Seattle, Washington

Hi I am Robb Benson and I started SHELK as a potential future band back in 2013. Released a full album that year on CD then many digital only basement releases have followed. Eventually became Stereo Embers but that is more of a rock and roll outfit and SHELK is now the solo indie side project (with friends at times) These basement demos are the seeds I release each year. Thanks for listening! ... more
